Trades to Report Including 2 Grasshopper Trades

Mondays are always busy and today is no different. Not only did I get into trades but I also exited a few positions. First let me list the positions I entered, which is normal for a Monday. Since I sell weekly options normally I have stock positions that had options expire on Friday, and if I was not assigned, the stocks owned are available for more Calls to be sold against the shares.

I also entered a few Long Option positions.

Let’s take a look at two nice Grasshopper Trades I have been making for a few weeks. One is with Quantum Computing (QUBT) and the other with Mara Holding (MARA).

 

Quantum Computing

I bought 100 shares of QUBT on Nov 25th at $8.30. I have been selling a Call for a few weeks because I was not assigned, today I sold another. I sold 1 QUBT 12/20/24 $8.00 C for a premium of 65¢ for $65. Yes, this is a Grasshopper Trade but the premium is 7.8% for a one week trade. Fantastic!

Mara Holding

This is another Grasshopper Trade. I own 200 shares of the stock at $26.10. I sold 2 MARA 12/20/24 $26 Calls for a premium of 50¢ for a total of $100. Again, I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s 1.9% for a one week trade. If you did this every week it would be 98% for the year. Grasshoppers, this is what you should be looking for. If after 35 years I can make trades like this, so can you!

Next let’s take a look at Long Options I bought today. One is with Meta Platforms (META), formally known as Facebook, and the other is with Axon Enterprises (AXON).

Meta Platforms

When doing fundamental analysis META is one of the best stocks in the world. Some say the best. I like to be involved in Long Options with this stock. My last options did not work as well as I wanted, but I did make $100. Let’s hope this one works better. My goal is to profit $500 which would be 25%.

Buy to Open 1 META 1/10/25 $620.00 C @ $20.00

Axon Enterprises

I also bought an option on Axon Enterprises. I never invested in this stock before so let’s hope for a little beginner’s luck. I got into this position because next Monday this stock is entering the NASDAQ 100, along with Palantir (PLTR). I think entering this index will cause a little northward movement.

Buy to Open 1 AXON 1/17/25 $630.00 C @ 32.00

The next two positions are with Tesla. On Thursday I bought two option positions on this hot stock. I did the same last week and made $1000 on one and $500 on the other. These two I bought on Thursday I sold today worked out a little better.

Tesla

I sold one of the two at the open. I love starting the week with a nice gain. The stock opened up and I decided to sell one of my options and watch how the day goes to sell or keep the other. This first position I bought at $31.50 and I placed a sell order at $41.50. I was filled and I locked in a $1000 profit to start the week.

Tesla

With my second Tesla position I waited until after 10:30. Many traders use 10:30 as a starting point of the day. After I sold my first Tesla position the stock pulled back. I did not care that I didn’t sell this second option because my Expiration Date is Jan 10th. After 10:30 the stock started to move up again. It went up to the point that I had an $1100 profit. At that point I placed a Sell/Stop order at $40. The premium was up to $41 but the Sell/Stop order would be filled if the stock dropped back to $40. If the stock continued up I would continue to make money. Once the premium went up to $42 I raised my Stop price to $41. As the stock kept moving up I kept moving my stop price up. I finally got filled at $50. This gives me a $2000 profit on this option. As I write the stock is hanging around my exit price.

12/16/24 – Sell to Close 1 TSLA 1/10/25 $425.00 C @ $50.00

Profit +$2000

What a great morning! I have $3000 locked in to start the week. Let’s hope the rest of the week goes well and I don’t have to take a loss of one of my other Long Options. I’ll keep you informed.

My META and AXON positions are doing well. The META option is up about $180 and AXON is up over $700 on a position I entered less than an hour ago.
