Results Week Ending 11/15/24

I had a nice week ending on Friday, 11/15. All the trades coming to an end are listed here. I hope this can continue for the next four years….We’ll see!

Palantir

PLTR had a very good earnings report; put this together with the election pop and you get good results. I bought this two contract Call with the Expiration Date of 12/27/24. With the stock’s jump I sold the position in three days. I only held the position over the weekend and sold on Monday. I invested $792 and sold for $1300 for a $508 profit and a +64% return.

11/8/24 – Buy to Open 2 PLTR 12/27/24 $57.00 C @ $3.96

11/11/24 – Sell to Close 2 PLTR 12/27/24 $57.00 C @ $6.50

Profit +$508

Palantir

After selling the position above I felt the stock still had some gas in it so I bought another position. The position above had a Strike Price of $57, and with the stock higher, I bought this position with the Strike of $62. This one I held from Monday to Friday and sold with a profit of +$405 for a return of +28.8%.

11/11/24 – Buy to Open 3 PLTR 12/27/24 $62.00 C @ $4.50

11/15/24 – Sell to Close 3 PLTR 12/27/24 $62.00 C @ $5.85

 Profit +$405

Block

I have been writing about these 200 shares of SQ. I bought them in May and have been selling Calls ever since without getting assigned. With this position the stock’s earnings were coming out and I sold the 12th Call since May. It would have been better if I didn’t sell this Call because the stock had great earnings and the stock has been going up ever since. But I’m not much of a buy and hold guy, especially with Block (SQ). I’m an options trader!

After bringing in close to $3k from previous Calls I finally got assigned making $760 on the stock sale and another $200 with this last premium. It was nice ending the string of trades with a $960 gain.

Covered Call with Assignment

5/6/24 – Buy 200 Shares SQ @ $71.20

11/15/24 – Assigned 200 Shares SQ @ $75.00

Profit +$760

11/8/24 – Sell to Open 2 SQ 11/15/24 $75.00 C @ $1.00 (+$200)

11/15/24 – Expired 2 SQ 11/15/24 $75.00 C

 Profit +$200

Nextera

Nextera is one of my high dividend stocks, which I’ll be writing about soon. The stock is down a bit in the last few weeks so I decided to buy 100 shares and sell a Call for a Grasshopper Trade. I bought the 100 shares for $19.90 per share and sold a $20 Call bringing in a 50¢ premium. I did not get assigned because the stock is still moving down.

11/4/24 – Sell to Open 1 NEP 11/15/24 $20.00 C @ 50¢ (+$50)

11/15/24 – Expired 1 NEP 11/15/24 $20.00 C

 Profit +$50

I know $50 does not sound like much but on a $20 stock the return was 2.5%.

Nextera

When I bought the stock and sold the Call above the stock moved up and I bought another 200 shares at $20.57 and sold two $21 Calls for a 38¢ premium for +$76. This premium was a 1.7% return. I felt the stock was gonna move up and I would get assigned but it didn’t. I still own these 300 shares and I just received a dividend on 11/14. The dividend was 91¢ for $275. I knew the dividend was coming. This is why I made these two trades.

11/5/24 – Sell to Open 2 NEP 11/15/24 $21.00 C @ 38¢ (+$76)

11/15/24 – Expired 2 NEP 11/15/24 $21.00 C

 Profit +$76

Trump Media & Technology Group

With the election Trump’s stock was moving. I saw that the premiums were high. I decided to take a shot at keeping the premium and getting assigned because I really don’t want to hold the stock. I bought 200 shares at $33.20 and sold 2 Calls for a premium of $2.75. The total premium was $550 for a return of 8.2%. Oh well it didn’t work! The stock is down about $6 from where I bought. However, I keep the premium of $550. I’ll just watch the stock and sell Calls until I get assigned.

11/11/24 – Sell to Open 2 DJT 11/15/24 $33.00 C @ $2.75 ($550)

11/15/24 – Expired 2 DJT 11/15/24 $33.00 C

 Profit +$550

Rocket Lab USA

This stock just came out with good earnings. With the company being a space company, and with Musk in the administration, I figured this could be a good trade. The stock has been going up like a rocket but once I bought the stock it took a break. I bought 200 shares at $21.40 and sold the In-the-Money $21 Call. I figured with the stock moving up and me selling an In-the-Money Call I would get assigned. That didn’t happen with the stock pulling back. It’s not too bad, I bought the stock at $21.40 and today the stock is at $19.29. I’ll get another Call sold!

11/13/24 – Sell to Open 2 RKLB 11/15/24 $21.00 C @ 85¢ (+$170)

11/15/24 – Expired 1 RKLB 11/15/24 $21.00 C

 Profit +$170

I received an 85¢ premium for a total of $170 on the 200 shares. The return is 3.9% for the two day trade.

Total Weekly Gain +$2719
