Results Week Ending 1/7/22
Well, we start another year of Main Street beats Wall Street. This site started in January 2016. We have 6 years under our belt and we start year number 7. I’ve posted a lot of trades in this time and used a lot of strategies. As a trader things are always changing as time goes by. We can start with age. One of the big changes is you get older. As you get older your account size changes. As your age and account size change your goals change. One of the things that seem to never change is the amount of news this world dumps on us. And remember, news moves the markets!
Even after 30 years of playing this game my toolbox keeps growing. With every trade I learn something and my arsenal of weapons grows. The tools and weapons I talk about are knowledge. Knowledge adds options of strategies you can use to better your chances to be successful. The one thing you want to keep out of your toolbox is greed.
As you grow as a trader you will use many strategies. You will find yourself buying and selling options. You will use different Strike Prices and Expiration Dates. You will find yourself focusing on a certain type of stock. Some positions you will hold for a day and some for a year. Even some for a lifetime. Knowledge will have you doing all moves and concentrating on the ones that best fit into your personal situation according to your age, account size, strategy/philosophy and risk tolerance.
Let’s talk a little about the first week of the new year. Over the years I’ve had some great starts, 2021 being the best first week ever. 2022 isn’t far behind. Because of my bad year in 2021 I started 2022 with a vengeance. I made a lot of trades including buying and selling stocks, Day Trading stocks, Day Trading options and Covered Calls. The big difference in this year’s start is I’m only working with big name stocks, Tesla (TSLA), Nvidia (NVDA), Paypal (PYPL), Boeing (BA), General Motors (GM), Marvell(MRVL) and I bought 200 shares of the Q’s (QQQ). I made a lot of trades. One of the reasons I was able to do this is I started the new year by dumping all of my crap. Yes, I did take a lot of losses but I figured I could stick it out with the crap or I could take the big tax write-offs and put the money to work in positions I like better.
I brought in a lot of money with my trades this week but the market will be volatile for a while and maybe even sell off a bit. This is why I want to concentrate on better stocks. If you do Covered Calls, whatever stocks you use, assignments might be rare.
Below are the trades I made this week.

I was in this trade for 1 day. When I got into this position I planned on staying in until expiration but the stock moved down in one day so I bought my way out with the hopes of a bounce and selling more Calls against the shares. I did get to sell two more Calls, which are listed below. This Call locked in $1150. The other two locked in $1200 and $500. My moves with NVDA paid off. If I just stayed in this position I would have only locked in the $2000 I signed up for with this trade.

This is a nice opening week but I did not get assigned on any position. Let’s hope I can get more Calls sold on all my positions and get assigned next Friday. We need the market to move this week! Concerning issues are the Fed and Omicron.
I will continue to work in my Day Trading. I love the feeling of getting out of a position and being liquid.
I would like to welcome the new readers. If you have any questions send me an email.
Successful trading,
Steve
