Today’s Gapping Stocks
The last few sessions I had some good luck with my Day Trading, yesterday being spectacular. I received many emails asking basic questions. The most popular being, where do I find my gapping stocks.
Right now it’s 8am. I was up looking at the ticker on CNBC for about 15 minutes. I found a bunch of gapping stocks just from the ticker. I also have a list of stocks that reported earnings after the close yesterday and I have a general watch list. You really just have to put your thinking caps on and do some homework. I do enjoy the emails but I’m just letting you know what I do.
This morning I came up with some really good gapping stocks and hopefully I’ll pick the ones I like the best and they’ll be big winners. Below is my list I came up with for today’s trading day.
Gapping up: DWAC, DWACW, PHUN, CRTD.
Gapping Down: SNAP, VFC, INTC.
Stocks gapping up I look to go down, and stocks gapping down I look to go up.
This is only a general rule. Stocks can very easily continue in the direction they are gapping. AS DWAC did for me yesterday.
Now that I have my list, I have a little work to do. Here’s a little list of things I do.
-Look to see why the stock is gapping.
-Look at the stocks rating. Really doesn’t matter, I just like to know what I’m dealing with.
-See what the company does.
-For stocks gapping up I look to see if it can be shorted. Many stocks are “Hard to Borrow.” If this is the case some platforms have trouble getting the stock for you to borrow to Short. I have pretty good luck with Charles Schwab. To check I open a trading window and try to enter a Shorting trade. I won’t send the trade, I’ll just enter it. Sometimes you can execute the trade and sometimes a message will come up saying the stock is unavailable to borrow. If that’s the case, and I want to Short, I move to the next stock.
Once I did a little work I try to narrow down to 2 or 3 stocks. Today’s list has some big stock names. I feel after the open SNAP, VFC, and INTC will be going up. BUT! We’ll have to wait to see the opening candlesticks and where the stock is trading in respect to the VWAP.
The stocks I did very well with yesterday were DWAC and CROX. DWAC is on a tear again this morning. Will it continue up or sell off? Still to be determined!
This post is to give you a little feel of what I do. You must understand Shorting and you must have time to sit at your computer. You must also be very familiar with your program. Yesterday I was moving at 90 miles per hour!
I’m gonna get to work. Let me know if you have any questions. Remember, I’m new at this also! We can learn together. My only advantage is I’ve been trading for a long time and I know my program to move quickly. Other than that I’m also a student learning this Day Trading game from the beginning. If you have any tips for me, please send them to me.
Successful trading,
Steve
